They are straying in constant restlessness through a savage landscape where the city is cracking. Shot from the animal’s point of view, patterns of mutual dependence and taming begin to blur.
SYNOPSIS DEUTSCH
Ein Rudel von Streunern – sieben Hunde und eine Frau – lebt in den Schatten der Stadt Moskau. Von den totalitären Behörden verborgen, teilen zwei Spezies ihre Existenz am Rande des Verschwindens. Sie streunen in ständiger Unruhe durch eine wilde Landschaft, wo die Stadt in die Brüche geht. Aus der Perspektive der Tiere gedreht, beginnen die Muster von gegenseitiger Abhängigkeit und Zähmung zu zerfließen.

Synopsis
They are Moscow’s stray shadows: a „pack“ of dogs and humans, claiming their territory where the city is crumbling and yet reveals a magical landscape.
Three stray dogs, four tramps and a limousine without wheels – in the midst of a run-down industrial landscape, not far from the center of Moscow. A „pack of strays“ – dogs and humans, living from whatever they can find and what has been left behind in seemingly idyllic circumstances. Yet, a building site is rising unpreventably in the background, and soon it threatens to engulf the „forgotten garden“ where the group is living. As the people increasingly sink into hierarchy quarrels, it seems only the dogs are feeling that their coexistence is in danger. „Dreaming Dogs and Barking Men“ is an unusual animal-human story in an enchanted place – and tells about what it means when the boundaries of „Owner and Dog“ begin to blur.
